In Mexican Culture Ofrenda is a tribute to dead loved ones, called “Dia de Muertos”. It is a mix of altar of dead, celebrations and pray for loved ones who are not among us anymore as physical bodies. The tradition is a merge of what Aztecs have in their own culture belief, that the souls of the loved ones gone remain within us and with the conquerors catholic culture of the heaven, purgatory and hell brought by conquerors.
Real day for Celebration is November 2, however, the entire week is a celebration along Mexico and Puerto Vallarta is not behind and has its own “Los Muertos” Beach, in heart of Romantic Zone, and steps from Ofrenda Building construction will emerge as a tribute for “Dia de Muertos”
From the very beginning of the central idea to honor the missing loved ones, Ofrenda Puerto Vallarta started with a concourse of three of the most relevant Mexican architectural firms who felt captivated with the Mexican heritage of tribute to dead, then Ofrenda Vallarta will be built by the winner of a contest, despite it was a real spectacle of breathtaking projects presented, “Mauricio Rocha Taller de Arquitectura” was the Winner.
Prior to contest, Mauricio Rocha and Adrian Iturriaga (Senior Architect, Project Design Leader) came to Puerto Vallarta to “read the codes and Lifestyle” of the city. The deep immersion of Puerto Vallarta Romantic Zone and Los Muertos Beach allowed them to create such unique piece, that enriches historic colonial architecture of Puerto Vallarta and soften the Romantic Zone Architectural Landscape with the Ofrenda Vallarta natural colors palette.

The Architects
MAURICIO ROCHA
Architect was born in 1965 in Mexico City he graduated with honors from the Max Cetto school of Architecture at the National Autonomous University of Mexico UNAM. Over his 20 years of professional work he has developed large and small scale projects he goes between working on such projects and speaking at architectural exhibits in museums. He has received many awards including first prize and the gold merit medal on two separate occasions at the Vienna international of architectural from Mexico as well as the Bienal Panamericana Award and the Vera Americana award also receive on two separate occasions his work has been the displayed in Mexico, New York, China, Brazil, Venice and Turin among other cities across the world. Some of his projects are part of a collection at the center Pompidou Pompidou center in Paris France. some of his works has been also featured in the architectural magazines such as Domus 10 by 10 Faidon, Arquin, Scala and others. in 2011 he published his own book Mauricio Rocha the year the Architectura.
He has granted and has charged for the Commission art for the National Fund for Culture and the Art as well as for other institution he has been ranking member of the National Academy of architecture since 2011 and in 2014 he joined the Academia the Artes.
Additionally, he has overseen the education programs at various universities in Mexico City and has attended conference across Mexico, South America, the US and Europe.
ADRIAN ITURRIAGA
Commited to work from sensory experiences, materiality, functionality and optimization of all resources, integrating the collaboration of specialized engineering and financial advice for each project. I like to work with order and planning, always in the continuous search to reinvent myself in the processes.
As a work philosophy, promotes the development of projects under a participatory design scheme in which I proactively involve all the parties that make up the team, the community and the client, thus provoking an experience that always awakens challenges and innovations, giving as a result, inspiration and confidence that allow the user to take the maximum pleasure of inhabiting their space.
Within my academic and professional training in the period 2007-2010 I taught at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM as a professor of Project Workshop I and II, member of the Advisory Council of Young Architects of the CAM SAM during the same period, I obtained an academic exchange scholarship at the Institut Ramón Llull, Barcelona in the summer of 2004, photography studies at the Centro de la Imagen CONACULTA 2001-2002. Several diplomas and program updates as a complement to the work includes Diploma in Real Estate (FA UNAM Continuing Education Division), CAPIT Work Control and Supervision Course (Center for Professional Update and Technological Innovation), among others.
